| The Artful Dodger is a small star ship with a crew of roughly 100. With increasing impending possibility of war with the Cardassians, Starfleet came up with this powerful ship for recon purposes. The idea is to work with a larger star ship as needed. Captain Uhura was the first officer to captain this new type of ships. |
